Today you will have a beautiful drive north to Jasper, and whilst this is only around 3 hours direct drive, we suggest you take all day over it, as there are so many great stops en route. It will be worth getting up early so that you can reach Lake Louise before the crowds, and have some breathing space to get that perfect photograph. After Lake Louise you’ll follow the Icefields Parkway – one of the worlds most scenic drives. There are well signposted viewpoints, so just keep stopping as many times as your schedule allows, and keep your eyes open for wildlife. Arrive in Jasper and perhaps this evening you’d like to visit the Planetarium where you can enjoy a virtual exploration of the Jasper Dark Sky Preserve

If you’re travelling with children you might want to visit the waterpark or Galaxyland. The Royal Alberta Museum is a beautifully designed space chronicling the natural and cultural history of Alberta. Whyte Avenue is filled with quirky independent boutiques, coffee shops and ice-cream parlours.

Day 9
Edmonton – Drumheller (174 miles)
You’re going to drive due south for around 3 hours into the Drumheller Badlands, a unique landscape of gulleys and canyons eroded from multi-colored layers of sandstone and shale dating back 70 million years. Over the years the natural erosion of these layers have unearthed myriad fossils and dinosaur bones, turning Drumheller into the Dinosaur Capital of the World. A visit to the Royal Tyrrell Museum is a must, housing the largest displays of dinosaurs and bringing prehistoric past to life.

Day 10
Drumheller – Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump - Waterton Lakes (231 miles)
