Overview

Whistler in the Rockies is a world-famous ski resort in the winter, but we think that it’s charms are increased in the Spring and Summer months. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola gives you not only spectacular views of the Rockies but also access to a web of lovely walking trails. The River of Golden Dreams is the perfect place to kayak allowing you to spot wildlife and see the beautiful countryside from a different perspective. And at this time of year, you can see the Black Bears that inhabit the Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains. With a great range of hotels to choose from and a lovely variety of restaurants, cafes and bars, this is a really lovely place to spend time in the summer.

This is a tailormade trip which we can tailor to suit you and your party. We have included some activities as a suggestion, but we can change these as you wish. And you may want to add-on a few days in the beautiful city of Vancouver (JV - TM)

Day 1

Fly to Vancouver

Fly to Vancouver and take a private transfer from the airport to Whistler, and check-in to your chosen hotel. We recommend the Aava Whistler Hotel as a comfortable base in a good location, but there are lots of other hotels to choose from to suit all budgets.

Day 2

Whistler – Peak 2 Peak Gondola

After a leisurely start, stroll through the lovely pedestrianised centre of Whistler Village, keeping your eye open for restaurants or bars that you might want to try out later, until you reach the base of Whistler Mountain. Then start your ascent, as you climb higher enjoying the incomparable views of towering peaks, coastal rainforests and ancient glaciers. The Peak 2 Peak Gondola is the first lift to join two side-by-side mountains and has the world record for the longest free span between towers. If you wait for the silver car (which comes along every 15 minutes, normal cars are every 45 seconds) then you’ll have the pleasure (or terror) of a glass-bottom to see all the way to the valley. Book the Peak 2 Peak Experience and you have access to scenic walking trails, mountaintop restaurants, wildlife viewing an indoor interpretive displays.

Day 3

Whistler – Bear Watching

One of the great attractions of Whistler in the summer is the chance to spot black bears – there is a population of around 50 that have adapted to feeding and hibernating amongst the ski area. We will book you onto a half day bear viewing tour, which will also include the opportunity to see wildlife such as coyote, black-tailed deer, western hoary marmots and great horned owls. You’ll be driven in a 4x4 vehicle through a maze of roads which traverse the forests, meadows and streams.

Day 4

Whistler – Guided Canoe Tour

Today escape to the peaceful surroundings of Whistler’s wetlands on a guided canoe trip along the River of Golden Dreams. Hop into a canoe, kayak or double kayak and enjoy the breathtaking scenery and take the opportunity to observe the birds and other wildlife. The guide will give paddling tips whilst sharing their knowledge of Whistler’s fascinating history, geography and wildlife. This is a flat water tour, but there are other excursions available which include rapids, bumps and splashes which we can book for you.

Day 5

Whistler - Independent Hike / Sqaumish Lil'wat Cultural Centre

Today we suggest you take one of Whistlers hiking trails, and you'll find some great suggestions at the tourist office or online. Trails vary from easy strolls to more adventurous hikes, and will take you through pristine forests, lush valleys and through Alpine meadows. Finish off your visit to Whistler this afternoon with a visit to the Whistler Sqaumish Lil'wat Cultural Centre, which embodies the spirit of partnership between Whistler's two First Nation cultures, the Squamish Nation and the Lil'wat Nation. Here you will find interactive exhibits, contemporary galleries and a spectacular 15 minute film showcasing the nation’s traditional and modern cultures. Traditional song and dance ceremonies are on display, as well as traditional storytelling, craft making and demonstrations about Salish wool and cedar weaving.

Day 6

Depart Whistler

Time to depart Whistler and take a private transfer back to Vancouver for your flight home or onward to another North American destination
