Day 1

Winnipeg

Fly into Winnipeg and transfer independently to your hotel. Relax and take the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2

Winnipeg – Lazy Bear Lodge via internal flight to Churchill

After breakfast, you will join a group transfer to the airport for your flight to Churchill. Upon arrival at Churchill Airport, a Lazy Bear Lodge guide will greet you and accompany you to the lodge. Lazy Bear Lodge is a cosy, rustic lodge in Churchill, Manitoba, known for its warm hospitality and excellent access to wildlife experiences. Built from hand-crafted logs, it offers comfortable accommodation, hearty meals, and guided excursions to see polar bears, beluga whales, and the natural beauty of the Arctic landscape. After checking in, take a moment to meet your hosts and unwind before the adventures to come.

Day 3

Lazy Bear Lodge

After breakfast, your day begins with an excursion aboard the custom-built Arctic Crawler™ tundra vehicle, taking you deep into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. Journey out onto the tundra, where polar bears gather as they await the winter freeze on the Hudson Bay. Often curious and unbothered by visitors, the bears may wander right up to the vehicle for a closer look.

Overnight: Lazy Bear Lodge. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included

Day 4

Lazy Bear Lodge

This morning after breakfast, board the Arctic Crawler™ tundra vehicle and head into the Churchill Wildlife Management Area again for more wildlife spotting.

In the evening, you’ll enjoy a dog-mushing experience, travelling 1.6 km (1 mile) on a sled pulled by an enthusiastic team of dogs on snow when conditions allow, or by wheeled cart if the ground is bare. The dogs’ sheer love of running makes either option an exhilarating ride. You’ll also hear local stories and learn how the dogs are trained.

Day 5

Lazy Bear Lodge – Winnipeg via internal flight to Churchill

After breakfast, set off on an immersive Churchill Heritage Tour, delving into the town’s rich history and dramatic Arctic landscape. You’ll visit striking viewpoints such as Cape Merry, learn about Churchill’s unique relationship with its resident polar bears with an outside tour of the polar bear holding facility, and discover other fascinating landmarks that reveal the culture, resilience, and stories of the North.

After your explorations, the lodge shuttle will take you to Churchill Airport, where you’ll board your return flight to Winnipeg, carrying unforgettable memories of your time in the Polar Bear Capital.

Day 6

Winnipeg

This morning check out of your hotel and make your own way to Winnipeg International Airport for your return flight.

It’s essential to pack warm, layered clothing, including snug but comfortable windproof outerwear with an attached hood or a very warm hat, ski or windproof trousers, and long underwear. A fleece jacket and/or sweater will help keep you insulated. Be sure to bring gloves or mittens and well-insulated boots. Weather permitting, short guided walks in patrolled areas may be included, so appropriate gear is important.
