Day 1

Winnipeg, Manitoba

Your tour begins in Winnipeg, located along the eastern edge of the Canadian prairie. You’ll stay overnight at the Fort Garry Hotel, where you’ll meet your fellow travellers and Expedition Leader for a welcome dinner.

Day 2

Winnipeg - Churchill

Today you will transfer to the airport to board a chartered plane to Churchill. If you’ve booked the six-day trip, you’ll head on to the tundra for an evening of seeing polar bears, whilst those on the seven-day trip will enjoy an evening presentation on polar bears by the professional naturalist staff.

Days 3 & 4

Churchill

You’ll spend the next couple of days exploring on the Polar Rover. The Expedition Leaders know the best places to see these magnificent creatures, and the steel viewing deck on the back of the vehicles allow you to safely see them up close. As you watch the polar bears wander and interact, the Leaders will explain their behaviour and how the survive in their rugged habitat.

Both evenings, you’ll get together for dinner and presentations on the local cultures and wildlife.

Day 5

Churchill

Those on the seven-day trip go on a tour of Churchill during the day, and then an evening polar viewing and dinner abroad the Polar Rover. The day includes a drive to Cape Merry, where you’ll potentially see Arctic Fox and Arctic hare. Meanwhile, in the evening you may have the special opportunity to see the northern lights.

Those on the six-day trip (in which the night time outing takes place on day two), will have free time to explore in Churchill, or you can choose an optional helicopter excursion over the tundra before boarding the flight back to Winnipeg.

Day 6

Churchill – Dog sledding – Winnipeg

For those on the six-day trip, you will transfer to the airport for your next return flight.

For those on the seven-day trip, the return flight to Winnipeg departs mid to late afternoon, giving you the chance to enjoy a fantastic and authentic dog sled ride. You’ll meet a local musher and his team, getting some time to meet the dogs before riding behind them through the boreal forest.

If there’s enough time, you’ll be able to pick up a few locally made handicrafts or take an optional helicopter tour over the tundra. You’ll then have a farewell lunch before flying back to Winnipeg for a final reception.
