Overview

With direct flights from London and Dublin to St. John's Newfoundland, a weekend break to Canada has never been easier! We've created this three night itinerary, but will tailormake this to suit you if you want to extend to explore more of Newfoundland or Atlantic Canada!

You’ll explore this lovely little capital, from the top of Signal Hill out to the most easterly point of North America at Cape Spear. You’ll admire the spectacular coastline, drink in the pure air and see icebergs, whales and puffins on the way. There’s no need for a car, as we’ve included some great excursions and you can hike the East Coast Trail from the city outskirts. (TM/JV)

Day 1

Fly to St John’s NL

Arrive in St. John’s, Newfoundland, and make your own way to your hotel in this colourful, character-filled city. After settling in, enjoy time to explore the vibrant downtown. This evening, head to lively George Street, famous for its music-filled pubs and excellent dining — the perfect introduction to Newfoundland hospitality.

Day 2

This morning, enjoy a guided Historical St. John’s and Cape Spear Tour, offering an ideal introduction to the city and its surroundings. Travel to Cape Spear National Historic Site, the easternmost point in North America, home to the continent’s oldest lighthouse and dramatic coastal views. Continue to Signal Hill for sweeping panoramas and stories from one of North America’s oldest settlements. The tour also includes stops at Quidi Vidi Village, Government House, the Roman Catholic Cathedral, and key downtown landmarks. The remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 3

Today, experience Newfoundland’s rugged coastline with one of the region’s signature adventures. Choose to hike a scenic section of the East Coast Trail, where cliffs, ocean views, seabirds and the possibility of whales or icebergs await.
Alternatively, embark on a whale, iceberg and puffin viewing cruise, sailing through The Narrows and along the coast toward Cape Spear. This narrated excursion offers outstanding wildlife viewing and a unique perspective of St. John’s from the sea.

Day 4

Depart St. John’s

Today it’s time to leave St. John’s, either fly home or perhaps onward to another Atlantic Canada destination such as Halifax to explore Nova Scotia.
