Overview

A new tour, specially created for this summer, this 9 night holiday is sure to sell out quickly. The tour begins in the Cowboy City of Calgary, and then it’s straight up to the stunning National Park of Jasper for a couple of days. It’s onto magnificent Lake Louise for a couple days, then into Canada’s very first National Park – Banff. Now for perhaps the highlight of the trip, two days on board the iconic Rocky Mountaineer train. You’ll have two days to sit back and be waited on whilst you admire the stunning scenery from the comfort of the train. The tour ends in Vancouver, but if you want you can always add on a few more days in this lovely city or take a ferry over to Vancouver Island for a stay in the charming city of Victoria. Day 1

Arrive in Calgary

Upon arrival into Calgary, transfer independently to your hotel. Enjoy an evening Stephen Avenue, where you will find a lovely selection of bars and restaurants.

Day 2

Calgary to Jasper

Hit the road and head north to the largest National Park in the Rockies – Jasper. On arrival you will have free time to explore this charming mountain town. You’ll be spending two nights here, giving you plenty of time to take in the glorious setting.

Day 3

Jasper

You’ll have the whole day to enjoy Jasper and its surrounds and this will include a Highlights Tour to take in the best sights. The rest of the day is yours at leisure.

Day 4

Jasper – Icefields Parkway – Lake Louise

Today you will take the road out of Jasper heading south to Lake Louise and taking in the stunning Icefields Parkway en route. On arriving at the Icefield Parkway you will take a tour of the interpretive centre and then ride out to the glacier on one of the purpose-built Ice Explorer vehicles. You will have the opportunity to see the Athabaska Glacier, before you return on the Ice Explorer to your coach for the remaining drive up to Lake Louise. Prepare to be awe-struck by this beautiful lake – one of the most photographed in the world.

Day 5

Lake Louise

A full day at leisure to enjoy the sights of this spectacular location in your own time. You can either take a stroll along the shores of Lake Louise, and get some great photographs of the waters with their mountain backdrop. You can also choose to take the gondola from Lake Louise up the mountain to nearly 7,000 feet, for some truly spectacular views of the mountains and lakes.

Day 6

Lake Louise – Yoho National Park - Banff

This morning you will head to the Yoho National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, for a tour. Admire the massive peaks, expansive glaciers and impressive waterfalls. Continue onto Banff, a lovely mountain town set amidst Canada’s first national park. With two nights here, you can really enjoy the quaint shops, atmospheric cafes and stunning views.

Day 7

Banff

You have a full free day in Banff to explore. Perhaps opt for a wildlife sightseeing tour, to see deer, longhorn sheep, and if you’re lucky a bear. Or choose a cruise on magnificent Lake Minnewanka, where as well as taking in the scenery you will learn about the First Nation history and the geology of the region. You could also take a guided walk, or if you’re feeling energetic you could go mountain biking.

Day 8

Banff – Rocky Mountaineer - Kamloops

The highlight of the holiday – time to board the Rocky Mountaineer train. Enjoy the scenery as this infamous train gently rolls through the Canadian Rockies. On board you will be able to eat, drink and be merry whilst the crew commentate on the passing scene. On arrival at the town of Kamloops, you will disembark and be transferred to a hotel for the night

Day 9

Kamloops – Rocky Mountaineer - Vancouver

Your second day on the train, and now there are different landscapes as you leave the Rockies and travel into the interior countryside. Travel through the Fraser Valley and look out for the swirling waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon. When you arrive in Vancouver you will be transfered to your hotel for the final night of your tour.

Day 10

Vancouver – tour ends

Today you will either fly home or extend your holiday with a few more nights in the appealing city of Vancouver. Or add on a trip over to Victoria on Vancouver Island, where you could go on a whale-watching excursion and explore this fascinating area.
